A vehicle arrived at our service center in Belgrade with a complaint of vibration when braking: the driver presses the pedal, and the car starts to shake.
We started with the wheel balancing — this is the most common cause of such vibration and it’s the easiest to rule out. The balancing was fine, so we moved on to the brake system.
At first glance, the discs and pads appeared to be in good condition, with no obvious signs of severe wear. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the left brake disc was deformed. This was the source of the vibration.
We showed the customer and got the repair approved. Here’s what we did:
- diagnostics of the brake system;
- inspection and balancing of the wheels;
- identification of the deformation in the left brake disc;
- replacement of the brake discs;
- replacement of the brake pads;
- rechecking the wheel balancing;
- test drive after the repair.
The vibration when braking completely disappeared after this, and the car was checked and returned to the owner.
A disc can look normal while being warped — this kind of deformation is not detectable by the eye. Therefore, if you notice steering wheel wobble, pedal vibration, or body shaking during braking, it's best not to delay diagnostics.
