A 2017 Volkswagen Golf with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission DSG DQ381 arrived at our garage in Belgrade for comprehensive maintenance and to address several issues.
During the service, we replaced the valve cover due to an oil leak, resealed the fuel injectors, performed a minor engine service, changed the oil and filter in the DSG transmission, and also cleaned the brake calipers.
We focused particular attention on the DSG DQ381 transmission. This modern 7-speed gearbox with dual clutches requires timely oil and filter changes; over time, the oil degrades and accumulates wear particles, which affects the performance of the mechatronics, hydraulic system, and clutches. Regular oil changes ensure smooth gear shifts and reduce the risk of costly DSG repairs.
We filled the transmission with the appropriate specification of MOTUL transmission oil, and the engine was also filled with MOTUL. The quality of the engine and transmission oils directly affects the lifespan of the vehicle.
As part of the minor service, we replaced the engine oil and necessary filters: for turbocharged Volkswagen engines, timely oil changes are especially crucial as they lubricate components, dissipate heat, and protect the turbocharger from premature wear.
The valve cover was replaced because the old one began to leak oil; such leaks tend to worsen over time and lead to engine contamination. We also resealed the fuel injectors, as the integrity of the connections is essential for the safe operation of the fuel system.
Additionally, we cleaned the brake calipers from dirt and corrosion: stuck moving parts cause uneven wear of the pads, overheating of the discs, and unwanted noises during braking.
