This time, we had a BMW 116d come in for comprehensive maintenance and to address several issues. It’s crucial to understand the specifics of the engines in BMWs and to examine every detail carefully. We don’t just replace parts; we identify the underlying causes of their failure.

What work did we perform on the BMW 116d?

1. Coolant replacement. We replaced the coolant to ensure the proper functioning of the engine's cooling system. Timely coolant replacement helps protect system components from corrosion, maintain optimal temperature levels, and prevent engine overheating.
2. Lubrication of the EGR pressure valve in the exhaust system. We serviced the EGR pressure valve located in the exhaust pipe. This component plays a role in regulating back pressure of exhaust gases and the functioning of the EGR system on BMW diesel engines. Over time, the mechanism can become dirty, seize up, and function improperly. We provided the necessary lubrication for the valve mechanism.
3. Engine mount replacement. We replaced the worn engine mount on the BMW 116d. Engine mounts are responsible for securing the powertrain and reducing vibration transfer to the vehicle body. Their wear can lead to increased vibrations, discomfort inside the cabin, and added strain on other components.
4. Identified the need to replace the torsional vibration damper. During the service, we also determined that the vehicle would require a future replacement of the crankshaft's torsional vibration damper. This component helps dampen vibrations and ensures stable operation of the accessory drive belt. Delaying the replacement of a worn damper is not advisable, as its failure could lead to additional malfunctions and costly repairs.
