Changing oil in the DSG DQ381 is an important part of transmission maintenance that should not be overlooked.
This time we performed a scheduled oil change: the client chose MEYLE oil, we filled it up and completed the rest of the necessary service.
The DQ381 is a modern seven-speed DSG automatic transmission with wet clutches, used in many Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, and SEAT models. When maintained on time, this transmission lasts long and without serious issues.
The same goes for other common DSG models, the DQ250 and DQ200. While they differ in design and specifications, the condition of the oil and timely maintenance directly influence the longevity of the transmission, the function of the mechatronics, and the clutches.
We recommend considering not only the formal maintenance schedule but also the actual operating conditions. If the maintenance history is unknown, it is definitely not advisable to run the oil for 100,000–150,000 kilometers. At 100,000 km, it makes sense to at least check when and how the transmission was serviced, and for both the DQ381 and DQ250, the oil usually should be changed much sooner.
Fresh, high-quality oil maintains its essential properties under various temperatures and loads, lubricates, and dissipates heat. This helps to avoid costly repairs in the long run.
If you purchased a used car and are unsure when the DSG DQ381, DQ250, or DQ200 was last serviced, check the condition of the transmission and its service history in advance.
